Case HCPA
OpMon monitors the IT infra-structure at the Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre (HCPA), one of the largest in Brazil.
A public university hospital directly linked to the Ministry of Education, the Hospital de Clinicas de Porto Alegre (HCPA)brings together nearly five thousand employees. The scale is huge, with 550 thousand medical consultations, 28.6 thousand hospitalizations, 36 thousand surgeries, 3.6 thousand births and 2.4 million tests each year. This monumental structure requires equal resilience in the IT area that supports all the patient care processes, from which the main product is the electronic health record (EHR). To meet this demand, the hospital has been using OpMon for five years.
The coordinator of Information Technology Management, Maria Luiza Falsarella Malvezzi, explains that the institution opted for the OpServices solution to monitor the network (two thousand points), servers and applications because of its characteristics. According to her, they fully meet the needs of the HCPA, such as "monitoring IT services testing all the layers, being cross-platform and enabling prioritization”. Furthermore, Maria Luiza cites as important, the ease in obtaining availability reports, "in a useful and efficient manner…" and continues, "…the ease of installation and integration of new monitors in addition to the visibility of the overall state of the infrastructure, facilitating corrective action before any commitment is very useful."
The coordinator says that she attended a presentation of version 4.0 of OpMon and was impressed with the new interface, “more friendly and interesting features such as dashboards, which will enhance management consoles.” Regarding the relationship with OpServices, his impressions are also favorable, "where necessary, we are handled promptly."
